The Book Thief

"Personally, I like a chocolate-colored sky."

An excerpt from The Book Thief by Markus Zusak:
"People observe the colors of a day only at its beginnings and ends, but to me it's quite clear that a day merges through a multitude of shades and intonations, with each passing moment. A single hour can consist of thousands of different colors. Waxy yellows, cloud-spat blues. Murky darknesses. In my line of work, I make it a point to notice them."

What else is there to say other than everyone should read this book. It is beautiful. It is tragic. I cried; more than I've cried in a while over a book. It is one of those stories that sticks with you long after you've read it. I'm still thinking about it.
It is elegant.
It is poetic.
There is hunger and pain.
There is friendship and love.
There is laughter.
There is injustice and courage.
There is death.
But most of all, there is hope.

Needless to say, I highly recommend this book.
