My Weekend

Yesterday my mom and I both woke up late and went to have breakfast at Mrs. Olsen's on Hollywood Beach, and then took a trip down memory lane, literally. We walked down the street that I basically grew up on, living in about 4 or 5 different house and apartments along the way. This house above is just a few houses down from the house (which is no longer there, sadly enough) that we lived in when I was in high school. I remember walking past it on a daily basis watching as more and more items were added to that wall over time. It's one of the coolest landmarks on that street.

We also went to 2 open houses, one of which is another landmark on that same street known as the wheel house because there's a tiny water mill wheel in the front of the house. We'd always wondered what the inside of the house looked like. I didn't take any pictures because I'm retarded, but it's the coolest house. The current owner had used all the existing doors and windows as decorations on the walls after she'd fixed up the place (it's really old, probably built in the 60's or 70's).

The other house we saw was in comlete contrast to the first: completely modern and white. Very pretty house though. There was a rooftop deck with the most beautiful views of not just the ocean, but the harbor as well:

That house had the coolest dining table. Love it!

And, on a side note, we walked past the lot where the house we lived in used to be. (We discovered this a while back so it wasn't a shock at this point) There's a monstrosity of house in it's place now. It's a shame because the house we lived in was probably one of the original houses on that street, just a little one-story beach house and there's not too many of them left on that beach. Not to mention there had been one right next door to us that also has a hug house in it's place. *sigh*

Said monstrosity. It looks like all the other modern boxes these people call homes on the beaches around here. I would have been cool with the replacement had it been a totally unique house designed with some imagination...and the other replacement not pictured is pretty much the same story.

It sounds like you had a really wonderful weekend. Taking a trip down memory lane is always wonderful. It's reminded me there are a few places I need to visit and photograph before they're gone for good.
